ON STIRRING FIRE WITH SWORD
The sword is the Martian symbol of the uninitiated human cognition, i.e., discernment by means of division and classification, and from the point of view of the “I,” as an entity completely exscinded from the rest of the World. But the ONLY ONE GOD is as “Fire,” and hence, necessarily not perceivable by a mind accustomed to discern only by means of division, as this directly opposes UNITY. One ought to learn to discern as a Unicorn, i.e., as if through a SINGLE horn growing from the forefront (ajna). Leo marks the discarding of the sword and the ensuing revelation.
“Do not stir Fire with Sword”—Pythagoras.
But, although the sword of Ares-Mars is the only cause of all war, strife and human-caused suffering in the world, it also symbolises thinking for oneself (i.e., strictly from the point of view of the “I,” as we said), which is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY in the esoteric, spiritual or philosophical journey. The sword shall be discarded, yes, but at the appropriate time. When the time comes one should go Excalibur—or rather Ex-caliber—i.e., beyond “the capacity of one’s mind or one’s intellectual endowments.”
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on Earth, I did not come to bring peace, but a SWORD. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”—Matthew 10:34-35.
